Here are the stories of a few of these accomplished alumna.
Eva J. Pell
CCNY Class of ’68
Vice President for Research and
Dean of the Graduate School
Penn State University
A graduate of The City College with a B.S. in Biology and Rutgers University
with a Ph.D. in Plant Biology (1972), Dr. Pell began her career as
a high school Chemistry teacher and research associate. In 1973, Dr.
Pell
joined
the Penn State faculty as Professor of Plant Pathology, becoming a
Distinguished Professor in 1991. In 1995, she was named Steimer Professor
of Agricultural
Sciences. She assumed her current position in 2000.
Dr. Pell’s research interests include the effects of air pollution on
vegetation, with an emphasis on mechanistic studies at the biochemical, molecular,
physiological, and whole plant levels.
She is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of
Science, the American Phytopathological Society and the American
Society of Plant
Physiologists. |
