Robert F. Wagner Hall (1937-1991) was originally a dormitory for the young ladies attending Manhattanville College. After City College acquired the building in 1952, it was remodeled in 1953 for classrooms and office space. It was named in honor of Robert F. Wagner Sr., member of the Class of 1898, who represented New York State for 23 years in the United States Senate. He emerged as a leading champion of social and labor legislation during the turbulent New Deal period, retiring in 1949.
