Horsley, “Fifth Avenue buses dropped off people from lower Manhattan a few blocks away and most nights the stadium was filled to capacity and those inside could see people in the windows and on the rooftops of the surrounding buildings listening raptly and occasionally looking upward in anger at passing planes.”1
The concert series ended once Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center was built.
